Keratoconus and iatrogenic ectasia are progressive vision threatening etiologies. Choosing the right treatment protocol is crucial. Primary intervention such as corneal collagen cross linking (CXL) is considered to potentially increase the biomechanical stability of the cornea and halt progression of disease process, which may postpone the need for keratoplasty. Course will use a didactic approach to address the indications of CXL and combined custom laser ablation procedures, interpretation of topographic indices after CXL, diagnosing progression, integration of other diagnostic modalities that may affect the clinical outcomes of CXL, and how to address these modifiable factors to attain better clinical outcomes.
