In efforts to improve capsular safety of phacoemusification needles, radiused tips have emerged showing promise in reducing the amount of capsular breakage. This video presents a novel smooth phacoemulsification tip with a polymer overmold at the distal end and a 45 degree bevel. Studies demonstrated enhanced capsular safety in comparison with a metal tip with a sharp edge and a 45 degree bevel.
