Recent government action has expanded telehealth coverage for Medicare beneficiaries nationwide, temporarily waiving penalties for HIPAA violations, and will reimburse physicians for telehealth services at the same rate for face-to-face services. CMS recently announced additional policies, including Medicare coverage for telephone services, and significant additions to the list of covered telehealth services, such as emergency visits. ASCRS and ASOA recognize that our members need resources on how to implement telemedicine visits for their practices and patients.

Stephen D. Klyce, PhD, FARVO

Dr. Klyce is an Adjunct Professor of Ophthalmology at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. He received his Ph.D. in Physiology (vision research) from Yale University in 1971. In 1979 he joined the faculty at the LSU School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he conducted research in corneal physiology and biophysics. He was a Professor of Ophthalmology and Anatomy/Cell Biology at LSU and Adjunct Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Tulane University until July, 2008.

Rayna Habash, MD

Dr. Habash is the Chief Medical Officer, Everbridge and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami, FL, USA. Dr. Habash, an early adopter of telemedicine, has developed an app for secure messaging and video conferencing designed for easy adoption of telemedicine among healthcare professionals.
